A music festival on the Back Beach kicks off today and one of the highlights will be the performance of the town's rising rock stars, The Quails, on Bank Holiday Monday at 8pm.
The popular band, whose new album Master of Imperfection is due for release on October 4, will take to the stage at 8pm after their Sunday performance at Occombe on the last day of the two-day festival  at 8.30pm.
They will also be playing at next month's free music festival that will start at 4pm on September 14, the day when thousands are expected to descend on Teignmouth for the end of the Tour of Britain cycle race's first ever coast to coast stage.
Their new album can be pre-ordered from their website and a sneak preview of their single, Fever, can be heard by clicking HERE
Other activities this weekend include Shaldon Regatta which is still on  and today sees sailing, sandcastle building, beach sports, a tug-o-war and the popular gig and punt reenactment between Teignmouth and Shaldon.  Teignmouth Arts Society Exhibition is also still running.
The roads around town are expected to be as busy as the roads around Torquay, Exeter's Westpoint and Occombe although there is a free bus for the Occombe Festival from Paignton Bus Station and from Torquay Harbourside every hour, daily.
Traffic is expected to be heavy around Dartmouth where it is the last day of the regatta and crowds will be drawn to the lifeboat search and rescue display and the parachute display.
Thousands are also expected to take to the roads to Exeter's Westpoint for the South West Motorcycle Show, complete with stunts.
The value of the Bank Holiday activities throughout South Devon is believed to be worth more than £6 million to the economy.

"Think safely when visiting the coast"
That's the message to everyone from the Royal National Lifeboat Institute
(RNLI) this Bank Holiday weekend.
"The August Bank Holiday is typically a very busy time for the charity," said a statement.
"While many people make the most of the long weekend by enjoying  time on the beach or at sea, this often means increased incidents for the charity's volunteer lifeboat crews, who are on call 24/7 and its lifeguards, who are this year patrolling over 90 beaches across the south west.
Last year the crews from 17 of the region's 35 stations launched 25 times over the long weekend and rescued 22 people, while the lifeguards responded to 273 incidents and helped 292 people on the beach.
The RNLI are asking people to swim at a lifeguarded beach between the red and yellow flags, not to use inflatables if there is a strong wind or rough sea, and check the tide times before setting off to avoid getting stranded.
Sailors are being reminded to wear a lifejacket, ensure you can handle your boat competently, check your engine and carry spares, check the weather and tides before setting off, tell others where you are going and when you expect to get back and ensure you a means of calling for help onboard either flares or a VHF radio.
